Gardening for Schools – Pollinator Garden Project at St Patrick’s, Drumgreenagh
We were delighted to visit St Patrick’s, Drumgreenagh, where the Primary Six and Seven pupils took part in a vibrant day of outdoor learning with Mr Kieran Gallagher from Gallagher Gardening. Together, we planted a variety of herbs and vegetables as part of the school’s newly designed pollinator garden. Created using a wide range of recycled materials, the garden has been thoughtfully structured to engage all five senses—allowing pupils to explore scent, texture, colour, taste and movement through nature.
The enthusiasm and teamwork shown by the pupils made the session a fantastic success, and we’re thrilled to return on 9th May, when the children will continue developing the space by planting carrots, leeks and a selection of flowers. This is a wonderful project that supports environmental awareness, creativity and hands-on learning, and we’re excited to see how the garden evolves over the coming weeks.
